Superior Image Quality

As we come to expect from Canon's pro-video cinema cameras, it's all about crystal clear, beautifully clean and stunning image quality. So that's where we begin: The C70 has been fitted with a newly developed 4K Super 35mm sensor and DIGIC DV7 image processor. This combination delivers ultra-high-resolution images with 16+ stops of dynamic range, fit of any professional application. It's capable of 4K XF-AVC (4:2:2 10-bit) recording up to 410Mbps, supporting ALL-I and Long GOP formats, as well as, 4K MP4 (4:2:2 10-bit) recording up to 225Mbps, supporting Long GOP format and HEVC. It's everything you need and more.

The Dual Gain Sensor is where the magic happens. The way it works is that each pixel on the sensor will read out the image with two different amplification levels, one high and one low. This is then combined into one single image. Canon's technology registers higher amplification read-outs which are optimised to capture clean details in darker areas. In contrast, the lower amplification read-out is therefore optimised to capture the details in brighter areas. This is exactly how the camera can achieve its impressively high 16+ stops of dynamic range - the fine details of both the highlight and low light areas are maintained and enhanced.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF

If you're in the professional video industry, you're bound to have heard about Canon's celebrated and groundbreaking Dual Pixel CMOS AutoFocus system (DPAF). This system provides both smooth and consistent focus for a wide range of photo and video applications, as well as making following and maintaining focus on moving subjects easier and more accurate than other systems. This operation masterpiece combined with the camera's incredible Face AF will allow you complete freedom to focus on composing your shots without the fear of losing focus.

Canon's RF Mount

The EOS C70 is equipped with Canon's high-quality and optimised RF lens mount. The EOS C70's RF mount has a large diameter with a short back focus and 12-pin communication. This combination provides a unique balance of both optical and electronic operation. Unlike other cinema cameras in the range, being designed with an RF mount means that you can take advantage of the exceptional quality, speed and performance that Canon RF lenses possess. These lenses are optimised for superior autofocusing and image quality which when combined with the C70's sensor and the image-processing system, will make for visually stunning video capture. Furthermore, RF lenses have various unique features, such as lens control rings which give you more control over your camera/lens settings, equalling a more professional and decisive workflow.

EF-EOS R 0.71x Compatible

The EOS C70 has an RF mount but that doesn't mean EF lenses are out. Canon has designed the optional EF-EOS R 0.71x. This is an EF to RF Mount Lens Adapter that will provide the very same angle of view of all full-frame Canon EF lenses when used on the EOS C70 camera body, and will actually increase the light transmission by one whole stop, offering brighter images. It's been designed so as to avoid any constructional compromise and as well as providing a superior communication between lens and body. So, grab your Canon EF or EF-S lenses - They're not out of the picture when this mount adapter is about.

Professional Workflow

This camera is all about providing an effortless workflow to you as a videographer. The camera's unique design includes a multi-function grip with three customisable dials and a multi-directional joystick. It has an incredibly useful and versatile touch LCD screen which can be used in all areas of operation and of course, enables touch-focusing. It comes equipped with professional I/O terminals as well as dual UHS-II SD card slots which allow you to simultaneously or relay record in different formats. Aside from these features, the camera itself is built from a carbon fibre polycarbonate which is strong and lightweight. Furthermore, this camera is much more compact than others in the range which means it can be easily attached to drones, gimbals, shoulder rigs and more.
