Fujifilm Instax film comes in a variety of formats, with corresponding cameras to shoot each one. Here are the key types of Instax cameras and Instax film.
Fujifilm Instax Mini cameras
Fujifilm Instax Mini camera film is the smallest type of film, producing prints that are roughly the size of a credit card. Instax mini film prints are great for scrapbooking, framing, collages, or just sticking on the fridge. You can even keep them in your purse or wallet! Instax Mini is an ISO 800 film, meaning it does fairly well in low light and is quite versatile. Images measure 46 x 62 mm.
Fujifilm Instax Mini cameras tend to be easy to use, allowing for beginners and younger photographers to get to grips with the ins and outs of shooting with the camera. The Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 is a point-and-shoot camera that couldn’t be simpler to use, while there’s also the Fujifilm Instax Mini 90, which is still straightforward, but has a few more shooting modes like Double Exposure.
Fujifilm Instax Square cameras
Fujifilm Instax Square film is perhaps the closest cousin Instax has to Polaroid film. Its prints measure 86 x 72mm and the actual image measures 62 x 62mm, so you get a good amount of detail and impressive quality. Fujifilm Instax Square Film can be bought in a twin pack, meaning you can really stock up before a holiday or an event.
Cameras that use Instax Square film include the Fujifilm Instax Square SQ20 Hybrid Camera, which includes a variety of fun filters, and even a mode that allows you to shoot a short video and then select which frame to print. For something simpler and even more affordable, there’s also the Fujifilm Instax Square SQ1, which is extremely easy to use, and has a selfie mode.
Fujifilm Instax Wide cameras
If you want to shoot a larger-format instant film, it’s definitely worth looking at Fujifilm Instax Wide. This landscape image format produces prints that are 108 x 85mm in size, with an actual image size of 99 x 62mm. Immediately impressive, with great latitude and detail, these instant photos can take pride of place on any wall, or as part of a larger display.
The Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 can shoot Instax Wide format film. Unlike many instant cameras, it offers a degree of manual exposure control, including an exposure compensation mode for lightening or darkening a scene. The focusing is motor-driven, and the camera is powered by common AA batteries.
