Expanded Panasonic LUMIX S 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 MACRO O.I.S. Lens Key Features:
Complex Lens Structure
This lens sees an advance and complex lens structure which helps you to utilise a huge focal range and macro shooting capabilities. To achieve this, the lens structure is comprised of 17 glass elements in 11 groups. This includes the use of two Extra-Low dispersion lenses, one Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion element and an Ultra-High Refractive Index element which together have a dramatic effect on the images you take; significantly reducing the appearance of chromatic aberrations and colour fringing, whilst increases clarity, colour accuracy and maintain edge-to-edge sharpness.
Aperture Control and O.I.S
Panasonic has designed an 11-bladed, circular aperture diaphragm which offers an aperture range from F4.5 (Wide) - F5.6 (Tele) to a minimum aperture of F22. This range will help you maintain consistent illumination throughout the zoom range and is particularly useful for macro photography where sharp, well-lit images are vital. In addition, this aperture design provides extensive control of depth-of-field as well as produces pleasing and beautifully smooth out-of-focus areas.
The lens is also equipped with a strong and powerful optical Image Stabiliser. This mechanism minimises the appearance of camera shake and makes for sharper handheld shooting. This is particularly effective when shooting handheld macro photography. Furthermore, this can be supported by in-camera 5-Axis Dual I.S. 2 for increased stabilisation performance.
Out and About
The lens weighs in at 790g, which whilst it isn't the lightest lens out there, it's certainly not the heaviest. In fact, this weight is actually complementary to the optical image stabiliser as you can hold the lens with a confident grasp and without tiring, and the lens will make short work of any micro-movements you may make when capturing macro photography.
As well as this, the lens has also been built with a splash- and dust-resistance. It's not weatherproof but this resistance will most certainly help if you happen to be out on-location photography and then weather takes a turn. Of course, the lens includes a lens hood which will help to reduce any unwanted glare you might experience in strong lighting.
