Intricate Lens Structure

Samyang has continued its trend of complex and advanced lens structures, and with good reason; it results in incredible high-quality images from very affordable and accessible lenses. The structure of this lens is made up of twelve premium lens elements that are arranged into ten groups. Within the twelve elements, there are five special lenses: three Extra-Low Dispersion lenses (ED) and two Aspherical lenses (H-ASP & ASP), and together these elements heavily contribute to the overall image quality, significantly reduces the appearance of chromatic aberrations and lens distortions. In addition to this, Samyang has included a redesigned Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) to each element which reduces surface reflections and prevents lens flare and ghosting.

Complementing Sony's autofocus systems, this lens can provide impressively fast and accurate autofocus that is also smooth and near-silent. This is thanks to the use of a redesigned STM (stepping motor) autofocus system that is able to more precisely and quietly drive the larger focus-lens group.
