Expanded Sony ZV-1 II Digital Camera Key Features:
Capture More in Your Vlogs
Sony continues to put users at the centre of all they do by introducing the ZV-1 Mark II to it's growing ZV range of vlogging cameras. Taking feedback from original ZV-1 users and reinventing their concept to streamline the Sony vlogging experience, the ZV-1 II comes equipped with a wider 18-50mm f1.8-4.0 zoom lens to fit more in the frame. Upgrading from a minimum 24mm focal length to an ultra-wide 18mm angle makes the ZV-1 II perfect for selfies, group shots, and emphasised perspectives without overextending yourself and eradicating any awkward handling.
The ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T Zoom Lens also makes it possible to flex between wide-angle and telephoto focal lengths, providing maximum versatility in one compact and lightweight device. It also has a built-in neutral density (ND) filter to control light exposure by three stops. Thanks to this, users can adapt quickly in different environments, with the option to step behind the camera and become the creative driving force for B-Roll - so the end result fully embodies your creative vision and is content you can be proud of.
Meet Content Creation Demands
This 4K camera follows in the footsteps of its award-winning predecessor, packing all of Sony’s best features for content creators into one lightweight camera. Starting with multi-face recognition, the ZV-1 II detects when new people enter the frame and automatically adjusts the focus and bokeh accordingly. This feature naturally adjusts the depth of field without manual input, automating a once tricky parameter change.
Achieving beautiful-looking bokeh is also as easy as pressing a button with the dedicated bokeh switch for professional results without added effort. Similarly, the Product Showcase Mode allows creators to present a product to the camera without fighting to get the camera to focus.
Staying in control of automated features and monitoring results is just as straightforward with the vari-angle screen. Thanks to the red frame around the display and the dedicated tally lamp, users can easily identify when they're recording. To take the strain off presenting to the camera, the 921,600 dot screen also benefits from touch capabilities, with options for self-timers and easy access to your frequently used settings and parameters. This navigation experience has been updated to be as simple and intuitive as operating your smartphone.
Elevated Filmmaking
This Sony vlogging camera is deceivingly well-equipped with advanced video features for elevated and more cinematic filmmaking. With the introduction of Cinematic Vlog adjustable presets, enhancing your 4K video with more cinematic colours and dramatic black bars at the top and bottom of the frame is effortless. Presets bake colours into the video like the ZV-E1 and include five looks (Cinematic, Clean, Chic, Fresh, B&W) and four moods (auto, gold, ocean and forest). The ZV-1 II also offers PP, S-Log3, and S-Log2 shooting options with 8-bit colour depth and 4:2:0 sampling, giving you more flexibility for colour grading in post-production, should you want to take your editing skills to the next level. These professional level features combined with Sony's 'Active Mode' makes for some seriously smooth shots, even as you walk around and shoot handheld.
Updated Autofocus Performance
Despite being a compact digital camera, the ZV-1 II benefits from Real-Time Eye and Real-Time Tracking autofocus that uses AI-based subject recognition technology to keep subjects focused as they move around the frame. This refined autofocus performance stems from the fast hybrid AF (phase-detection AF / contrast-detection AF) system with up to 315 points of phase-detection AF (for stills, 273 for video). The ZV-1 II’s subject recognition has also been upgraded to recognise animals as subjects, so creators can introduce their furry friends in their content as they would any other participant.
Professional Audio That’s Easy to Control
Reinforcing the enhanced level of control that the ZV-1 II offers its users is the upgraded integrated Intelligent 3 Capsule Microphone with improved sound gathering performance and noise reduction. This built-in microphone has selectable directions that capture only the sound in front of the camera, the sound from the back, or all surrounding sounds. This is perfect in interview scenarios or when dealing with multiple subjects and you need to enhance the audio from a particular direction. The ZV-1 II also includes a free windshield, helping to eliminate unwanted sounds whilst vlogging out on location.
Get Connected
Doubling up as the perfect streaming camera, the ZV-1 II features UVC/UAC connectivity, allowing users to stream from their laptops or smartphones without capture cards or additional software. Thanks to this feature, users can easily go live in their home studio and take their audience along whenever they venture outside. Or, if you’re more of a content curator, you can pair with Sony’s latest Creator’s App to transfer your shots and post them on your favourite social media platforms. Logging in to Sony's cloud services will help users make the most of production support tools. This gives you access to services like 'Master Cut (Beta)', which uses camera metadata and AI to create rough movie edits and Ci Media Cloud to make team collaboration simpler and smoother.
Customise Your Setup
If you’re looking to go live or want a more refined vlogging experience, you can customise your ZV-1 II setup with the optional Sony GP-VPT2BT Bluetooth Shooting Grip. This compatible grip helps users keep their camera steady even when extending their arms for self-portraits and makes for a more stable, intuitive and fun vlogging experience. With a wireless build that draws power directly from your vlogging camera, grip users will benefit from a simple plug-and-play design. You can also use the grip as a mini tripod when setting your ZV-1 II down and hit record using the additional controls.
A Step Towards Sustainability
As part of Sony’s ‘Road to Zero programme’ that focuses on achieving a zero environmental footprint throughout the life cycle of products, the ZV1II takes another step towards a more sustainable future. As part of this plan, the ZV1 II body features elements built entirely from recycled plastics, utilising everything from SORPLAS to windscreen fibres made from recycled polyester and even water-based paint to reduce volatile organic compounds. This environmentally conscious design extends to the outer packing, using Sony's original blend of bamboo, sugar cane, and recycled paper. This unique, high-quality and durable blend successfully protects your camera and is also recyclable when you're finished unpacking.

FAQs:
What’s the difference between the Sony ZV-1 and the ZV-1 II?
Sony ZV-1 II vs Sony ZV-1 - which is better? It's the question on everyone's lips when vendors release an upgraded version or 'mark II' of an original product. Whilst the Sony ZV-1 won the prestigious EISA Vlogging Camera 2020-2021 and RED DOT design awards as Sony’s flagship vlogging camera, customer feedback collected over the years prompted Sony to reconsider some design features. Issues found with the ZV-1 included the standard 24mm focal length, lack of touch controls, a thread mount that covered the battery compartment, and no power delivery through the USB terminal.
As a result, the ZV-1 II has an improved 18mm ultra-wide focal length, more touch controls for an intuitive experience that operates like a smartphone, a repositioned mount, and power delivery through the USB-C terminal. It also benefits from a new cinematic vlog setting, My Image Style, animal subject recognition, a microphone with customisable direction, creative looks, and weighs a little less. With this overview of features in mind, the ZV-1 II is the student that became the master, taking lessons from the almost perfect ZV-1.
What’s the difference between the Sony ZV-1 II and the ZV-E1?
The Sony ZV-E1 was introduced in March 2023 as a professional mirrorless camera with a 12.0 MP full-frame sensor. The Sony ZV-1 II is a compact camera with a 20.0MP 1-inch sensor. Both cameras are designed for vloggers but appeal to different points of the content creation journey - with the ZV-E1 as an excellent option for creators looking to invest in their craft and the ZV-1 II as an ideal all-in-one option for creators just getting started.
What inputs/outputs does the Sony ZV-1 II have?
The Sony ZV-1 II benefits from a USB-C port with power delivery, a micro HDMI connector (Type-D), a 3.5 mm Stereo minijack, a multi-interface shoe, and a single SDXC/SDHC memory card slot.
Does the Sony ZV-1 II shoot RAW?
Yes, the Sony ZV-1 II can capture RAW (80 frames), JPEG (up to 189 frames), and RAW + JPEG (78 frames).
Does the Sony ZV-1 II have a good battery life?
The Sony ZV-1 II uses an NP-BX1 Rechargeable Battery Pack. This X battery provides up to 45 minutes of use in movie mode or approximately 290 shots when shooting still images.
Does the Sony ZV-1 II have a soft skin effect?
Yes, the Sony ZV-1 II has the same soft skin effect as the ZV-1. This effect is available in movie mode and reduces the appearance of skin wrinkles and blemishes while preserving the sharpness of eyes and mouths. You can adjust the intensity by selecting OFF, LO, MID, or HI.
Does the Sony ZV-1 II have any accessibility features?
Yes. The Sony ZV-1 II benefits from a screen reader function that reads text on menu screens aloud. It's easy to activate by navigating to the 'Setup' tab and turning the 'Screen Reader' function to ON. The volume of this feature is also adjustable using the 'Sound Option' settings.
